Before you buy.
Will it work in free Google Sheets?
Yes. File > Import > Upload > choose the file > Replace spreadsheet. Every formula was written to run in both Excel and free Google Sheets — no XLOOKUP, no LAMBDA, no dynamic arrays, no add-ons and no subscription.
Why can't I type in some cells?
Those are formulas, locked so a stray paste cannot break the math. There is no password. Review > Unprotect Sheet in Excel, or Data > Protected sheets and ranges in Google Sheets, opens the whole thing if you want to change something.
What mileage rate should I put in?
Whatever your own policy, contract or accountant says. This file deliberately does not ship with a tax-agency figure: the published standard rate is reset every year, so a number baked into a spreadsheet would be wrong by next January and you would never notice. The rate lives in one blue cell on the WEEK SUMMARY tab and everything else follows it.
Is this payroll software?
No. It is a tracking tool. It adds up the hours, miles and dollars you type in and shows you the totals before you hand them to whoever actually runs your payroll. It does not calculate withholding, it does not file anything and it does not send anything anywhere.
Does it know my overtime rules?
No — you tell it. The threshold and the multiplier are two blue cells you set. The default of 40 hours at 1.5x is the common weekly arrangement, but some states use a daily threshold and some contracts differ. Use the rule that actually applies to you; if you are not sure which that is, the question belongs with your payroll provider or your state labour office, not with a spreadsheet.
Does it work in free Google Sheets?
Yes. Every workbook is built with an older, universal formula vocabulary so it imports into free Google Sheets without add-ons, and it opens in Excel as well. You get both in one purchase.
